Promise to Poppy by Lowell Teal
"With privilege and resources comes responsibility"

Derek Davidson was reared in South Georgia. His father owned a third-rate beer joint that boasted "the coldest beer in Georgia." His mother was a saintly woman who had an outside job to subsidize her husband's failing attempt at being a businessman.

Mrs. Davidson also recognized musical talent in her son Derek. She insisted he take piano and voice lessons to develop this talent. His mother did this to the disadvantage always of herself. With a scholarship and her continuing to work he was able to finish college.

Working for The Gregson Family Foundation and The Productive Life Foundation, Derek became the public face and primary entertainer for both. He is acclaimed nationwide as an accomplished musical performer. In constant demand, he is on the move from ballroom to ballroom to churches to corporate annual meetings and upscale assisted living facilities.

His national status as an entertainer is such that media follows along to report his antics and successes. He produced headlines like "Texas Rodeo Revival" and "Entertainer Stuns Clergy."

From media reports and spectacular performances Derek is able to successfully initiate interest in the outreach of the foundations resulting in new and different opportunities of genuine altruism. Yet, few who are entertained ever realized his mission but respond to his influence and requests willingly.

PROMISE TO POPPY BOOK REVIEW
"Promise to Poppy" is another rung in the ladder of life that Lowell Teal has created with his BATH POND Series of novels. The Bath Pond books revolve around a flowing them that includes hard work, ethical behavior, integrity, family values and tenacity. Beginning with Bath Pond, he has shown us how a small group of people looking for something better in life moved to Florida during the difficult Depression years. They began with little of tangible value and a dream of carving out a decent life for themselves. As the series of books progress Mr. Teal impresses upon the reader the importance of moral and ethical attitudes. Adherence to these principles in developed within the main characters as they learn to copy with successes, setbacks, and deaths of loved ones while relying on familial support to help others and passing the torch to carry on the charitable foundations they created. In Promise to Poppy we encounter the hilarious musician Derek Davidson's unique personality. The theme and altruistic ideals that began with Bath Pond and extended through Fortunes Crossing and Inherited Journey continues in this series as only Lowell Teal can spin the story. Each book stands on its own, but reading all four connects the dots and has the power to change readers' lives in a positive way. If you liked the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books, you'll love Promise to Poppy and The BATH POND Series."
